About Us

It's the mission of Cocoon, Inc. to offer hope to India's abused and abandoned women and children by giving them a safe, loving environment where they are educated and empowered with the skills to be self-sufficient, allowing them to reach their fullest potential.

Ranjeeta Devi, Happy Home's Director arrived in Puttaparthi in the year 2000 where she began her work as a teacher. She quickly saw that many of the children she interacted with on a day to day basis needed more than just a place to learn but a place to live safely. With the help of a few key benefactors she would rent a space to house the first group of children. She named this place of rescue and recovery The Happy Home Orphanage started on 2008.

As the number of needy children grew, she relocated to a small building on the outskirts of town, room enough for outdoor play and a garden. Over time, in addition to the number of children she identified, local-residents began reporting abused, neglected and abandoned children often living in horrific conditions. Ranjeeta carefully investigated all reports before accepting the children, something she continues to do today.

Today, nearly 9 years later, Happy Home supports approximately 50 girls and boys with food, clothing, fresh water and an education that is both challenging and enriching. Additionally, the children learn the English language, which is critical for job placement throughout the world.

By your sponsorships and support of these children, ages 6 to 18 we can provide for their essential needs.

Happy Home is registered with the Indian Government and is an official Non Governmental Organization (NGO). All children are documented with birth certificates and have official status as orphans.

In addition, Cocoon sponsors the "Butterfly Project" which trains women in tailoring and provides them living quarters.

The items produced by these women are sold at our events, in their village as well as visitors to the Happy Home.

With your support and sponsorship, we have able to elevate ourselves as an official 501C3.
